| General Summary of duties : Under
general direction, performs and interprets preliminary, non-invasive
cardiac studies; operates ultrasound equipment performing echocardiograms
and Doppler investigations; significant demonstrated related experience,
knowledge and skills of echocardiography processes and protocols for
adults; demonstrated ability to organize workflow and prioritize patients
according to need and staffing; proven communication and interpersonal
skills; demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills; proven
ability to work under pressure and exercise independent judgement; the
ability to physically lift, turn, position and transfer equipment and
patients, manually and with the assistance of colleagues and/or aids;
proven ability to adapt standard work procedures to emergency situations.

Reports to the Echo Manager; Practice Administrator and Medical Director.

Essential Functions :
- Performs M-mode and two-dimensional (2D) examinations of the heart
from multiple approaches on outpatients; provides preliminary
interpretation including measurement of M-mode echocardiograms.
- Recognizes and provides detailed examinations of specific
diseases during the 2D study; produces hard copy 2D pictures for
measurement.
- Performs Doppler studies, accurately placing the Doppler in
various areas of the heart and great vessels; recognizes
abnormalities; depicts the proper Doppler modality to accurately
explain any abnormalities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains operational schedule as depicted by management.

Education : High school diploma, two year accredited college
degree, preferred; successful completion of an Echocardiology Program; must
be registered with the American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
(A.R.D.M.S.) in Cardiology successful completion of accredited/certified
echocardiography medicine program.

Experience : one (1) year of technical/paramedical training;
supplemented with a minimum of three (3) years of experience using
ultrasound equipment.
|
|
Requirements :Certification by state as cardiology sonogragher;
ongoing CPR certification.
|
|
Knowledge :
Knowledge of principles of body mechanics.
Knowledge of methods of maintaining safe, working environment.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of intracardiac and thoracic anatomy
Knowledge of disease states
Knowledge of functional operation and principals of ultrasound equipment
Interpersonal/human relation skills

Skills :Skills in appropriately taking vital signs and weights,
effectively transferring and transporting patients and maintaining a
clutter-free, organized lab area.

Physical/Mental Demands :Varied activities including standing,
sitting, walking, reaching, bending and lifting. Requires full range of
body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger
dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Occasionally lifts and carries items
weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal
range. Occasional stress related to patient load.

Environmental/Working conditions :Combination of office and lab
areas. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances,
ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a
clinic environment.
